After three years of tireless planning and preparation, my partner Dr. Barbara B. Hayden and I are proud to finally announce the grand opening of the KO’AN Center for Integrated Aesthetic Medicine this July. Since Dr. Hayden and I first discussed our common vision, nearly eight years ago, it has become a long-time dream and labor of love, and we are elated that our vision has finally come to fruition.

Everyday we are bombarded on television and the internet by cosmetic companies, all constantly touting the next miraculous breakthrough in beauty technology. Our patients often ask us for a reality check on what works when and how. In our new center we will have the opportunity to better meet this need. Through a focus on evidence-based medicine and our collaboration with alternative medicine, we want to help you research and understand what works and what doesn't, and why. More importantly, in this age of constantly promised miraculous results, we want to make sure you know what is safe and what is not. We believe that information, something we have sensed is lacking in the modern world of aesthetic medicine, is crucial to patient well-being.

With this in mind, we have named our center KO’AN: the art of questioning in order to achieve a higher level of enlightenment. Through your questioning and our commitment to education and excellent medicine, we believe we can provide truly enlightened care.

Located adjacent to our new medical office, on the first floor of St. Johns Medical Plaza, the center occupies approximately 12,000 square feet and will house an integrated program of surgery, advanced medical skin care, and optimal health. With our educational modules and highly trained staff, we plan to show you the science behind beauty. Our services will include everything from mineral-based cosmetics to Botox, soft tissue fillers, and state-of-the-art laser and skin treatments.

While we hope to open the Optimal Health Center in January, the skin care component of our center will have a Grand Opening in July.
